Description

AVOTurboworld's NA Stage 1 Power Package is finally ready to go. After much testing in Australia and the UAE, we have come up with a good power increase combined with an exhaust that has a good note and virtually no drone. In designing the exhaust we did a lot of noise testing and drone testing while towing to get it perfect. We used a Dyno Dynamics dyno for testing in North Queensland. Conditions are hotter and it is a fair way above sea level so perfect for testing and getting the package right. If it right there then will be OK everywhere else in Australia.

The initial dyno in standard trim showed 199.3kw atw and 426nm atw. We then fitted the AVOTurboworld Gen 3 high quality twin catless second pipes plus the cat back and flat panel filter but without the AVO tune. The dyno figures after this was 223.4kw atw and 476nm atw. This was only to 4600rpm as the air/fuel ratio was starting to go seriously rich so thought better of going to 5500rpm. The next part of the development was to finish off with the tune to bring the package together properly. Remapping the ECU was the preferred method, we are able to change Cam Timing, Throttle Control, Torque Management, Fuel & Timing.

After the ECU was sorted, it was time for the final dyno and the figures were impressive. The power was 250.7kw atw and 482nm atw. That is a 25% increase in power and a 13% increase in torque. Just when you think that is it with the tuning, we then wanted to get fuel economy as good as it could be. The vehicle in standard trim averaged about 16 litres per 100 kilometres around town and with towing a 3.5 tonne load averaged 22 litres per 100 kilometres. After the Stage 1 power package had been installed and setup, testing of fuel economy figures showed that around town figures improved to 13.2 litres per 100 kilometres and with the towing of 3.5 tonne it dropped to to 19.8 litres per 100 kilometres. Improvements of between 10 and 20% fuel economy depending on the type of driving. Another part of the tune that we also changed was the line pressure in the automatic tranmission, it was upped to make the gear changes crisper.
