Description

The team at STI in Japan have a designation that they only use on the best models they offer, this is the Type RA or " Reccord Attempt" . First seen in 1995 on the Version 2 STI Type RA and closely tied to the Subaru World Rally Team the special edition cars wearing this badge have been the best STI could produce. 

This philosophy continues today the type RA short blocs are the best of the production run, Subaru pick the best castings with the thickest cylinder walls possible and reinforced semi closed deck design. Internally there are limited differences to the regular STI shortblock these also contain a nitrided crank shaft and factory I beam rods however these share a similar piston to the later model EJ257.

This motor is physically a bolt-in for all WRX and STi models, please bear in mind depenidng on your heads there may be a change in compression ratio. 

If you are planning a high horsepower build this block is a great starting point and we can certainly assist with a package of pistons and rods to drop in, and some ARP head studs to hold it all together.
